This is a copy of The Numbers Racket CD-ROM, which I prepared back in 1998. I am presenting it here, unedited, for historical purposes. Obviously most if not all of the information is 'out of date' today, but think of it as a snapshot of what the Spy Numbers scene was like in the late 1990s.

Like what you see here? Help support my work by taking a look at my software , and buy something of interest :) It's all available for download before purchase, so you can try it out.

Enjoy!

Rasper (LINK-11)

Rasper (LINK-11)

The Rasper is a name given by various listeners to a group of stations later found to be transmitting using a protocol called "LINK-11", which is a U.S. Navy tactical data system, used to exchange radar data amongst ships of a group.

The Rasper has a very unique sound. It transmits a series of short bursts of data, followed by one long burst. Similar to transmitting several morse code dots followed by one dash. The number of "dots" varies, but each active frequency seems to have only a few different combinations. The purpose of the number of "dots" is not known.

The Rasper is generally found in the 4 MHz band.
