This is a copy of The Numbers Racket CD-ROM, which I prepared back in 1998. I am presenting it here, unedited, for historical purposes. Obviously most if not all of the information is 'out of date' today, but think of it as a snapshot of what the Spy Numbers scene was like in the late 1990s.

Old Phonetic Alphabet Stations

Old Phonetic Alphabet Stations

Here are an interesting bunch of stations. These stations transmit their messages using phonetic letters (much like the Israeli MOSSAD stations), but instead of using the modern (NATO) phonetic alphabet, they use the much older phonetic alphabet which was in use prior to World War II.
A three letter identifier is transmitted at the start of the broadcast, and then the message is sent in five letter groups. A male announcer is used.

Schedule:

Time Frequecy Call
1100 18000 BEC
1200 17503 USP
1230 11170 MSA
1300 11000 BEC
1400 14000 FYP
1630 6715 MSA
1700 14000 FYP
1730 5834 MSA
1800 5834 USP
1900 4130 SAR
2000 5530 NAS
2100 4130 MSA

Signal strengths of these stations have been reported to be rather strong near Greece, so the transmitting site may be close by.
Listen to the station Listen to station Nancy Adam Susan, using the old phonetic alphabet (ENIGMA E15)
Listen to the station Listen to station Baker Edward Charley, using the old phonetic alphabet (ENIGMA E15)
