This is a copy of The Numbers Racket CD-ROM, which I prepared back in 1998. I am presenting it here, unedited, for historical purposes. Obviously most if not all of the information is 'out of date' today, but think of it as a snapshot of what the Spy Numbers scene was like in the late 1990s.

Enjoy!

The Fader

The Fader

Faders sound somewhat like a motorcycle engine, and get their name from their habit a lowering volume, and then getting louder again. They operate on a 1 minute cycle, and have a glitch every 7.5 seconds, so there are eight bursts in a cycle.

They appear to be very well syncronized with UTC, a new cycle always starts at exactly 00 seconds.

They are often heard in late afternoon / evening time in Europe, often eight transmitters are active at one time.

The following frequencies have been noted:

3191	4020	5090	6505	7658	9125	10142	13431
3217	4062	5195	6825	7813	9138	10480
3382	4457	5313	6878	7997	9225	11100
	4478	5328 9245	11517
	4496	5400
