This is a copy of The Numbers Racket CD-ROM, which I prepared back in 1998. I am presenting it here, unedited, for historical purposes. Obviously most if not all of the information is 'out of date' today, but think of it as a snapshot of what the Spy Numbers scene was like in the late 1990s.

Enjoy!

The Echo

The Echo

This station transmits a 1000 Hz tone, followed by a 2000 Hz tone. The tone duration is always 1.5 seconds, but the interval between tones varies between 0.0025 to 6 seconds, with a 4.5 second interval being most common.

As the station is in the maritime band, some wonder if it is a Russian beacon or marker. Frequencies:

4080
4119
4382
